The state of Montana has entered phase one of a three phase reopening process. Missoula businesses have resumed operations, including restaurants and the like, while adhering to new safety protocols and social distancing requirements. Individual counties are able to enforce their own requirements and reopening timelines.
We see this as a positive sign, and hopefully we will progress into stages two and three without issues. It is important to note that there is currently a mandatory 14 day quarantine requirement for out of state travelers. Unfortunately, we do not have an exact date or even an estimated timeframe for when the out of state quarantine requirement will be lifted. Understandably, this creates a large hurdle for the majority of our guests, and we will continue to be flexible with our cancellation policy should this extend into June and later.
We are now resuming guiding operations for Montana residents and travelers who meet the required government quarantine standards. Our guides are excited to get back out on the water, and we are offering full day guided float trips at a highly discounted rate of $375 for the month of May 2020.
We are still cautiously optimistic about the season. We plan to implement changes to the daily routine and will adhere to all current health and safety protocols. Our typical day on the water will certainly bring with it some new obstacles, and we are happy to adapt in these strange times. We are thankful to all of you who have called and checked in, and look forward to sharing our water with you in the near future!
On the fishing side of things:
Runoff has started here in Missoula. With that being said, MRL guides Jake Hensley and Dylan Curry went out earlier this week to explore a more obscure section of local water, and were rewarded for their efforts. Jake landed this nice brown as well as a handful of mature rainbows. While there are a few secluded local fishing options around Missoula, the conditions on the Missouri River are more consistent and productive this time of year. If you’re interested in enjoying a change of scenery during these unusual times give us a call to book your day on the water with our May discounted rates!
